Wednesday is Quilt Along Day. Judy has already begun modifying the Blue Boardwalk pattern. The original pattern is a throw-sized quilt, but Judy is turning it into a queen. She is also modifying the pattern so that the blocks will be easier to make using the Tucker Trimmer and Wing Clipper II.
Today's fabric is "Daydream" by Makower. Who doesn't love a print with little hearts all over it? Make cute bags and adorable dresses, and give your baby quilts a dose of cheer. Wouldn't one of these be the sweetest nursery curtains? http://www.yankeepridequilts.com/shop/Fabric/New-Fabrics.htm?pageNum=3
Judy has chosen Blue Boardwalk, by Diane Nagle for the Quilt-Along. The pattern itself is a throw-sized quilt, but Judy is turning it into a queen, doubling the amount of fabric required. If you choose a pattern, and decide you want to change the size, bring it into the shop, and we can help you figure out the correct fabric yardages. Here is the fabric Judy has picked. It will be a gorgeous quilt.
Introducing "Quilt-Along with Judy". Due to the pandemic and contact limitations, Yankee Pride is not currently doing a Mystery Quilt. Instead, we're trying something new: a quilt-along! We invite you all to take part. You can choose any quilt pattern you'd like, but if you're feeling stuck and want to try something new check out the free patterns from Windham Fabrics. Judy has chosen Blue Boardwalk, by Diane Nagle. Each Wednesday, we will post Judy's progress on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

Timeless Treasures "Knit One, Purl Two". This one's certainly going to be a best-seller! Both chicken prints and knitting prints are very popular in our shop. Ski Town by Clothworks. Skiing appears to be the trending sport this year, as far as quilt fabric goes. This is the third ski line that's arrived at the shop! This town is full of residents who spend all their time outdoors, by the look of the fabrics. People are walking their dogs, skiing, and snowboarding, from the mountains down to the streets. The panel would be great to border and quilt as a lap or throw quilt for the ski lover in your life

Blue Boardwalk progress, 11/11/2020. Judy is making progress on her “Blue Boardwalk” quilt. She has decided to make a queen-sized quilt, and has tentatively figured that she will need to double the fabric of the original throw-sized quilt, except for the borders. The Queen requires 6 more Star blocks, 8 more Star Cornerstone blocks, and 14 more Lattice Strip blocks than the Throw.
Whenever possible, Judy prefers to not piece her borders – she likes them without any seams. For this project, her border print is directional, so she will cut her side borders lengthwise. Her top and bottom borders will need to be pieced, from strips cut crosswise (selvage to selvage).
“I’ve cut all my pieces, and now I’m ready to start sewing,” she says. “I’ve made all the Star Point/Background 1 Flying Geese units using the Studio 180 method. Now I’ll trim them all down to 2¾” x 5” using the Wing Clipper II.”

Chalk and Charcoal from Jennifer Sampou by Robert Kaufman. We've carried a few of these over the past year, and our customers love them! The pattern looks like a screen (remember those?), and when you add color, it adds texture, and works in lots of different kinds of quilts. The softer colors complement pastels, the rich colors work with holiday fabrics, kids fabrics, and traditional prints, and the neutrals look good everywhere.
http://www.yankeepridequilts.com/shop/Fabric/New-Fabrics.htm
The Coop from Kim Schaefer by Andover. We know we have lots of chicken fans out there, so check these out! Funky chickens in fun colors, the ever-popular chicken wire, and some winding, random chicken tracks, too. These are great for all things kitchen.

We are getting some questions from customers about the possibility of a shutdown again here in Vermont. As of today, our plan is to stay open as long as possible. If we are ordered to close, we plan to proceed as we did in April and May. You'll be able to place orders online, and either pick them up at the door or have them shipped to you. It seemed to work well throughout the spring, so why change it? The shopping was safe for both staff and customers, and we were able to address everyone's needs.
The usual reminder if you are coming to see us:
*Masks are mandatory, for both customers and staff.
*Please sanitize at the door when you come in. Your hands must be completely dry before you can touch the fabric.
*Store capacity is 4 customers at once.
*We will remain closed on Sundays until further notice.

Brighten your day with more "Batiks" by Hoffman. What's not to like about these? Thin stripes, tone-on-tone, and batik! Stripes make wonderful accents, and add some whimsy when you use them as binding. There are some great colors here for you to choose from.

Village Life by Makower. These juvenile prints look so idyllic! A European village, and various farm animals grazing in fields and barnyards. It all looks very peaceful, and looks like somewhere we might like to be right now. Make a fun quilt and teach your little ones all about life on the farm. The tractor print (left in photo) has several different kinds of farm equipment on it - we don't see that too often!

Judy made this delightful quilt using Northcott "Arctic Wonders" Panel by Barbara Lavallee. The circular motifs in this Northcott panel look like individual snow globes. Judy added a border and machine appliqued red squares onto the panel. All it needed was some quilting, and voila! Done. If you like this, act quickly. We don't have many panels left!

Novelty prints by Robert Kaufman. Judy's been ordering prints with smaller motifs, which are great for kids quilts, but they're also ideal for mask-making. Any of these four will do. The pastel birds (bottom in photo) have come through the shop in flannel, and in a larger size in cotton. They're adorable when they're tiny!
http://www.yankeepridequilts.com/shop/Fabric/New-Fabrics.htm?pageNum=3
Simply Neutral 2 by Northcott. We love these black and gray prints! All three are quite striking in different ways. They're the kind of prints you use when a solid black is just too intense for your quilt. The motifs here will soften the look for you. The dots will be popular in bindings, and both leaf prints will work in your piecing.

We are closed today, Thursday, December 31 and tomorrow, Friday, January 1, 2021.
It's "Blue Boardwalk" Wednesday, and here's Judy's progress. The first photo is her alternate layout of the Flying Geese for the lattice, which you saw last time. The second is one completed lattice unit, and you'll notice the middle Geese are turned 90 degrees. With her scrappy Geese, the effect is pretty cool!

When the cold weather settles in, it's a great time to make a flannel quilt. Today's post is "Timber Trails Flannel Throw Kit." It is a Yankee Pride original pattern. At 64" x 80", it's a good-sized throw, great for cuddling under. Kit includes instructions, panel, and all the fabric needed for the top and binding. Price: $ 104.00.

Progress! Judy's been doing some sewing, and here is one of her rows for "Blue Boardwalk". Doesn't it look great? How is your project coming? Are you working on this project with Judy, or did you choose something else?
Deanna is signing people up for our Sulky Club! This is a club we've run in the past, for people who just love the Sulky 12-wt embroidery thread, but do not yet have a collection . Over the course of six months, you will receive 80 different embroidery threads! If you participated last time around, you can sit this one out - you already have all these threads. The price is $24.99/month, and if you live far away, we do ship for a small additional fee. The club starts in January. Stop in or call to sign up!
Today's fabric is Robert Kaufman "Library of Rarities". A fun and interesting print, this Kaufman fabric has world maps on it, overlapping each other. It's slightly colorful, in a subtle way. How old are the maps? Australia is called New Holland. It's a wonderful addition to your stash, for an I-Spy quilt, or for the map lover in your life. It will make a gorgeous quilt back, and can certainly be fussy-cut into smaller pieces, if you want to highlight each continent.

Here's another book that caught my attention when I was in the store this week. "The Bonnie & Camille Quilt Bee Book" by Bonnie Olaveson and Camille Roskelley. This celebrated mother-daughter team present their personal stories of how quilting has shaped their pasts and presents while influencing future generations. They also share tips on how to make quilting an occasion to be shared with family, friends and the global quilting community, as well as many practical quilting tips. This book features 12 amazing projects, including the unforgettable Shine On Sampler Quilt, nine coordinating quilts, a pillow and one gift-worthy thread catcher.

Check this out, it's amazing. Machine-Quilting Idea Book by Vicki Ruebel. This machine-quilting book is like no other. It’s a helpful guide to machine-quilting designs for a dozen classic quilt blocks! No guessing, no stressing--these 61 designs show you exactly how to quilt specific blocks, and you choose the challenge. With four to six ways to quilt each block, quilters will find machine-quilting designs for beginners and beyond. Spool icons denote the difficulty of each design. Start with an introduction to basic tools, supplies, and best practices. Then jump right in with color-coded illustrations that tell you which path to follow and when. Yes, you can quilt it--pick a block and Vicki Ruebel will show you how!

It's "Blue Boardwalk" Wednesday, and we've got a few lovely photos for you. The first photo is Judy's Star Block (fruit in the center of the star). Next is the Corner Star block, and then the Flying Geese Lattice block. As you can see, Judy used a medium print for her lattice, rather than a dark one. Next week we hope to have a full photo of the quilt for you. How is your Quilt-Along project coming?

It's "Blue Boardwalk" Wednesday, and we've got a great photo for you this morning. As you can see, Judy is almost finished with her version of the quilt. She has just one more border to go! She really likes the choice of a medium blue that borders the stars. It's a dark in the original, but she wanted to lighten the look, which she certainly did! How is your Quilt-Along project coming?
So. We had a small spill incident the other day here at the shop. Two of our extra-wide bolts now have tea on them. 😳 The good news for you is that these two bolts are now 50% off the regular price by the yard. You can purchase the fabric and try to get the tea out, or you can tea-dye your yardage. Stop in and see the damage - maybe it’s something you can use!
*No returns on this fabric!
More novelty prints by Robert Kaufman. We've had lots of fabric requests in the last 9 months, especially after we sold out of so many of our novelty prints during our closure. The rainbow stripe (left in photo) arrived the other day, as did the new soccer print (right in photo). Whether you're still making masks or have moved on in your sewing, you can always tuck these two into your stash.

Every Monday morning you will find Cindy opening up Yankee Pride for the week. Cindy spends a great deal of time coordinating our charity program which supports Voices Against Violence. Their mission is the elimination of domestic and sexual violence and stalking through direct service, education, and systems change. Their shelter is Laurie's House. This confidential shelter is open to all survivors fleeing violence. It is temporary emergency shelter, as well as daily support, safety planning, systems advocacy, resources, and more. Each survivor is given a quilt upon arrival which they will take with them when they leave. If you are interested in supporting our efforts, please contact Cindy. We would be very happy to have your help. A huge thank you to all who donated quilts for Laurie's House in 2020. Cindy delivered 35 quilts to those in need.
Good morning! It's "Finally Finished Friday" at Yankee Pride! This is a new Friday feature on our social media channels, celebrating quilters who are pulling out their UFOs and completing them - the reason doesn't matter, whether it's the pandemic isolation, the cleaning of your sewing space, or just the motivation of getting something done. Judy is first, with a Mystery Quilt from 2009! Many of you will recognize it when you see it. We're going to start our Fridays with some staff finishes, but if you've got a project you dug out of the closet (the pile, the drawer, the bag, etc.), and you want to show it off, message us on FB and we may feature it in the near future!

Today's fabric is Rainbow of Jewels from Jason Yenter by In the Beginning. Jason's designs have glorious color and lots of depth.
One of these stunning purples has a motif that looks like quilted feathers, in all directions. Purples that range from dark to a pale pinkish red-purple are just lovely. This is the kind of print that coordinates all your purples together. With this, you can throw them all in one project and it just sings.

"My Favorite Color is Moda" by Moda. This fun print is very much a novelty, meant for all quilters. Each dot represents a color Moda uses when designing their fabrics. The corresponding name of the color is listed right under the dot. Make an eye-catching bag, or curtains for your studio. Or just pick up a piece to use as a reference for your future projects.

It's Finally Finished Friday! Here's one that's slightly out of the box...in 2015, Cindy bought 4 of those cool Hoffman panels - the ones with all their 1895 colors on them - to make curtains for her studio. It's now 2021, and they went up last night. She loves them! Judy says our Finishes don't need to be quilts - are you knitting or crocheting? Cross-stitching? Embroidering? Let us know if you've finished something in the past year - we'll post it for you!
Mill Creek Garden from Jan Patek by Moda. This gorgeous group has lots of admirers already! If you're looking for fabric for a spring project that's a bit more elegant than the norm, take a closer look at these. The colors are rich, and the designs are classic.

Monkey Business by Henry Glass. Monkeys, monkeys everywhere! This is a wonderful print for the child who adores monkeys, They're smiling out at you - some in overalls, some with bananas, and some wearing hats. Add the coordinates and a few pieces from your stash, and choose an easy pattern, and you're on your way to a bright, fun project.

Good morning! It's Finally Finished Friday, and today's project is quite a beauty. As many of you know, Kathy is a big fan of handwork, and for several years she collected and made several projects from quilt stamper (and now author) Cindy Blackberg. Kathy started this 50" x 50" quilt a few years ago, and finished it last spring. It's hand pieced, hand appliqued, hand embroidered, and hand quilted! Best of all, she made it for herself, and it's now hanging in her home.
American Gathering from Primitive Gatherings by Moda. Judy saw this line and thought it would be perfect to add to our inventory of patriotic prints. Anyone who's making Quilts of Valor is always on the lookout for star fabrics, in reds, whites, and blues. This bunch checks all the boxes, and will easily coordinate with what you already have. Repro fans can use these, too!

UPDATE on Winter Wonderland Block of the Month. This BOM will begin mid-March 2021. The kit costs $21.95 each month plus shipping if unable to pick up. This includes the pattern, fabric, and wool for the front (including the binding). The quilt top when finished is 44 X 63. Please contact Yankee Pride, 802-872-9300, to sign up. This is a delightful project.
This is what we all need today...exquisite wisteria flowers bring the hope of spring. Hoffman "When in Wisteria" S4813-120 Hyacinth. Gorgeous blooms, in purples from blue-purple all the way to pink-purple, stretch across this Hoffman digital print. Sparse greenery provides an accent, and the teal background peeks through to add to the stunning color palette. Suzanne is going to make napkins from this fabric!!!! You should too.

"Cora" by Windham Fabrics. A pretty group of prints that look just like spring! All we have left of the floral print (center in photo) are the fat quarters we cut - someone bought the entire bolt! There is plenty left of the other pieces, though. There are yellow and orange ripe kumquats hang from the tree, waiting to be picked. This leafy print might make a cool border on a nature-themed quilt, or one geared toward the jungle. Make a reusable grocery bag for your produce - this is a fun choice for that, too.
http://www.yankeepridequilts.com/shop/Fabric/New-Fabrics.htm?pageNum=4Cora
Welcome to this week's Finally Finished Friday! Today's submission is from Judy. While cleaning, sorting, and organizing at home, she found a pile of blocks, with no memory of where they came from or what they were supposed to be. She was thinking maybe it was a Mystery Quilt, but we have yet to identify one that looks like this. Laying out the pieces, she figured out where everything should go, but also found she was short a few blocks. Once they were complete, quilt top construction began. Isn't it great? Controlled scrappy looks fabulous!
Henry Glass "Farm to Market" Apron Panel from Jan Mott. Chicken lovers, rejoice! It's time for a new apron, isn't it? There are chickens, roosters, and plenty of veggies for harvest on this apron. Simple instructions are included right on the panel, and you can embellish it your own way, if you like. Apron finishes to approximately 25" x 30". It's also an easy project to make and give.

Batik lovers!!!! Batiks by Hoffman. Another box of batiks has arrived, full of color and fun. Several of these prints can be used as accents, with their intense, rich color. You'll notice that a few of them are actually new designs.
http://www.yankeepridequilts.com/shop/Fabric/New-Fabrics.htm
Gossamer Garden by Henry Glass. Don't butterflies remind you of spring? The warmer breezes and blooming flowers draw butterflies to our gardens - we sometimes stop what we're doing just to watch a butterfly flutter by. These two prints are lovely for borders, block centers, and backing. The panel can easily be cut apart with each square bordered for a quick and pretty project.

March 1st and let's start off the month with some beautiful green fabric. Hoffman S2313-220 Fern. Ferns in light green lie across a background of a rich, dark green on this Hoffman batik. It's a print you'll want to show off, so use it in places like borders, backings, or bags, where you get the full effect of the ferns. We have a large selection of batik prints in our inventory. There are rainbows of colors and prints, to suit any project you may want to make.

Good Sunday morning! We hope you're enjoying your weekend. We promised you a photo of Judy's "Blue Boardwalk" quilt, and here it is! Isn't it gorgeous? As she said previously, Judy changed the print bordering the stars from a dark to a medium - it certainly brightens the entire quilt, doesn't it? How is your 'Blue Boardwalk" coming along? Please message us with a photo of your quilt top - we'd love to post them all at once, to see how different and wonderful one quilt pattern can look.
When in Wisteria by Hoffman. These stunning spring prints are flying out the door. Make bags, quilts, and clothing - all will be showstoppers. The colors are glorious, and the designs immediately catch your eye. They are digital prints, so there is more depth of both color and design here than we're used to in our quilt fabrics. Farm to Market and Folio by Henry Glass. The focus fabric in this line (top center in photo below) is a great choice for using as block centers or in an Uneven Rail Fence quilt. In the focus fabric, this farming community certainly looks peaceful! There are lots of big red barns, and family farmhouses, and everybody's got fruits and veggies for harvest. The 'Folio' tone-on-tones (left and right in photo below) work well as the rails, or as coordinates in lots of other projects.

This morning's wool pattern is "A Garden Intruder" by Jerome Thomas Designs. A Garden Intruder sniffs his way through the lush summer garden until he happens upon a lovely purple coneflower. The soothing and rich colors used in this design create a vignette of blooming flora that welcomes and embraces our inquisitive, young, furry, adventurer. This is the Summer design of a series with this curious young bunny rabbit.

A new interesting pattern today would make a great new project. Trellis by Heather Black for Quiltachusetts is a 70'' x 84'' modern quilt with a fabulous fall color palette. The design features a value changing palette that moves the eye from the bottom corner to the top corner with plenty of negative space to be creative in. This 13 page intermediate quilt pattern includes easy to follow instructions, full color diagrams, a coloring page and full size templates.

Yes, it's that time again - Finally Finished Friday! This week's entry comes from Suzanne. The quilt is called "Hattie O'Connell", and it's from the November/December issue of 'Quiltmania'. She started it in our YP Civil War Club in January 2017, and it's a pandemic completion. Suzanne did make some changes to the pattern, as it called for a straight set with sashing. She loved the floral print so much that she put her blocks on point and included the floral in nice big pieces, as alternate blocks.
Got a pandemic project you want to share? Send a clear photo of it to staff@yankeepridequilts.com with some pertinent info, and you could be featured one Friday!

Good morning! It's Finally Finished Friday! This week we have our first customer entry - Paula submitted two photos of quilts she finished during the pandemic. Both are quilts made with blocks by Lori Holt, from several of her books, and started in Suzanne's class. Paula says, "I found concentrating on anything with very many steps was impossible during this difficult year. But I could manage a block at a time and feel like I accomplished something." We think they look great!
If you'd like us to show the world something you've finished during the pandemic, please send a good photo and some info about the quilt to staff@yankeepridequilts.com. Happy sewing!

Good afternoon! It's Finally Finished Friday, and today's entry is from Judy - she's been very productive recently, digging through her stash, weeding out fabrics, organizing her UFOs, and sitting down at the sewing machine to finish them. Today's finish is a Blooming 9-Patch. Judy is well-known for her Fall leaf-themed version - it hangs in the shop window every fall. This one is much more toned down, with its softer Butternut and Blue Repro colors. It's quite lovely, though!
Let's all say "Good Morning" to Deanna.
Delightful dinosaurs. Today's fabric In the Beginning "Dinosaur Friends". We have a panel, a stripe, and an all over large dinosaurs fabric. Plus we have coordinating small prints. Nine different types of dinosaur grace the great panel. Cut them apart, add a block border to each one, then a border to the outside, and you've got a great throw for the dino lover in your life. http://www.yankeepridequilts.com/shop/Fabric/JuvenileNovelty.htm?pageNum=3
Three new delightful Hoffman "Frozen in Time" batiks. Savannah, Peacock and Grape Juice. We don't see this batik sticking around the shop for very long!
