The first Waterloo Ice House opened its doors on Congress Avenue in 1976. It was casual neighborhood gathering spot serving hot, handmade meals and ice cold beer for an eclectic mix of Austin business people, students, artists and musicians. Over the years, Waterloo has become a place for whole family entertainment, including playscapes for kids, game rooms, flat screen TVs for watching various sporting events, large outdoor patios and full bars. There are now four Waterloo locations, which include the location at 360 and 2222, Burnet Road and 183, Escarpment Village, and Southpark Meadows. Waterloo Ice House still embodies that Hill Country spirit of gathering with friends and family for a cold beer and spending time together eating, laughing and talking. Each location prides itself in consistently serving fresh, homemade food and cold drinks, providing great service, and being a place where neighbors become friends.
