Fall is here, which means Halloween is just around the corner. That means costume contest! We can't wait to see your furry friends dressed up in style! Submit your pictures to us at au982@vca.com or text them to us at 630-413-9552. We will post them on facebook and at the hospital & choose a winner! Here are some pictures from last year!
I copied this post from Fetching Tails Foundation facebook post in hopes we have some very caring & giving followers. We will also accept puppy food donations here at our hospital for them. This was posted on Sept 25th.
14 days ago we took in 19 puppies and 2 momma dogs. This Tuesday we prep to take in another 18 puppies. These dogs come from deplorable conditions fending for themselves to fine cover, food and to survive. Once we welcome they head to foster homes to get unlimited amounts of love, food and care. Once age appropriate we spay and neuter to stop the cycle of unwanted litters.
We need your help with puppy food to provide them. Puppy food is hard to get donated and we need to make sure they get the proper nutrition they never received. Can you sponsor a bag of food or two for them?
Each bag is $26.34 to donate on our website or you can purchase directly off our amazon wishlist.
Other items needed:
• Pill pockets
• Puppy pads
• Paper towels
• Dog treats

Meet Arvin! He's smart, he’s handsome, and he’s currently available for adoption at PAWS Chicago.
Even though WE know how great he is, he’s just not confident in himself in new situations and needs a hand finding the perfect family.
Arvin’s one of a handful of pets at PAWS Chicago looking for a special home! Each week, we’ll share an adoptable dog or cat who’s been a little overlooked but doesn’t deserve to be forgotten - because harder to home doesn’t mean harder to love. Arvin would love to find a family that:
🐶: Has a big, fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood.
🐶: Follows a regular routine.
🐶: Has no kids or kids 12+.
🐶: Has no pets or has a big, energetic dog that Arvin can play with!
When you adopt through PAWS Chicago, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500).

Fleas & ticks are out and about! make sure your pet is protected. Call us at 630-420-9155 to set up your monthly flea and tick preventative.
We know you’re so excited to go on some autumn nature walks with your dog, but for this #FallSafetyTip, make sure you watch out for snakes, some of which can be venomous! They’re preparing for hibernation and may be a little crankier if disturbed by a curious pet! 🐍
When walking or hiking, if something happens to your pet, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. #VCApets
Today is Global Cat Day, a special occasion devoted to unowned, free-roaming “community” cats. These cats often get a bad rap but it’s important to understand that these cats aren’t so different from our beloved pets. As a matter of fact, many are living on the streets as a result of being abandoned by their families.
We've included some tips to help manage and care for the community cats in your neighborhood.
Helping these cats starts by being a responsible guardian! Spay/neuter your own cat and keep them indoors.
* In just seven years, a single pair of cats and their offspring could produce a staggering total of 420,000 kittens! #VCApets
Don't forget heartworm preventative is year round. It needs to be given monthly year round to protect your pet. Call us at 630-420-9155 to set up your refill.
Please help us help local pet rescues dealing with the difficult times during covid. We are accepting pet food donations, toys, crates and puppy pads for local rescues in need. If you're not sure if it's something they can use, then just give us a call 630-420-9155. Thank you in advance. Caring is sharing & sharing is caring!
Happy Friday the 13th! Just when we thought spooky season was over! 👀#vcapets
Roxanne is this week's PAWS Chicago underdog. Despite her adorable smile and repertoire of tricks, like sit and shake, this two-year-old Terrier/Bulldog mix hasn't had a whole lot of interest from adopters. Roxanne can be a bit intimidated around new people but one she feels safe, she'll gladly sit on your feet for hours of head scratches.
PAWS Chicago knows it just takes the right person to stumble upon this post to find Roxanne's future family. If your home is adults-only, pet-free, and filled with experienced dog owners ready to help Roxanne feel comfortable and safe, that might be you! Meet her at https://bit.ly/3eLkqbZ or find all of PAWS Chicago's other adoptable animals on their website.
As a VCA partner, PAWS provides all adopters a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500).
Although your holiday season may be a bit different this year, decorating your house for Thanksgiving is always a fun tradition! But remember that certain decorative plants, like amaryllis or Baby’s Breath, can be toxic for pets, so keep them out of reach! 🦃💐#vcapets
Just because it's getting cooler out, it does not mean the risk of fleas, ticks and heartworms is over. IT'S NOT. Please remember to keep your pet on it's monthly flea, tick and heartworm medication year round for the best protection.
One look at Bruno’s big, golden eyes and goofy smile and you’ll fall in love. This one-year-old Hound mix is at PAWS Chicago, Chicago’s largest No Kill shelter, and he’s looking for a home.
Like a lot of large adult dogs, Bruno needs help finding the right family. He’s a lovable underdog just waiting to shine in a house fit for this belly rub king and plenty of big pup playdates! You could just be Bruno’s people if your family:
🐶: Has experience owning a dog.
🐶: LOVES to play, run, or be active!
🐶: Is cat- and young kid- free but might have another large, playful pup to be Bruno’s best bud.
🐶: Has someone who’s regularly home to keep this big guy company.
If that sounds like you, you can learn more about Bruno and PAWS Chicago’s virtual adoption process at bit.ly/2HXppdJ.
When you adopt through PAWS Chicago, you’ll receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, giving you a free visit with a veterinarian within 14 days of adoption and covering the cost of illness in the first two weeks of adoption (up to $500).

Are you decking the halls with boughs of holly? 🎄Be careful—some festive plants like holly, poinsettias, amaryllis and more are toxic to pets if eaten! Keep them far out of reach this year. #vcapets
