By following established protocol, our community is following a multi-phase approach to reopening. With continued precautions in place, Trillium Woods will begin permitting outside visits by authorized guests or visitors on the Grand Terrace and Café patio. Visits must remain six feet apart with no physical contact, masks should be worn throughout the visit, and appropriate hand washing/sanitizing procedures should be followed. We are also adding canopies to provide additional shaded areas on the Grand Terrace. At this time, no unauthorized guests or visitors are permitted inside the building and/or residences. Additionally, Trillium Woods will re-open and/or increase the capacity of several amenities, including dining venues, exercise programs, housekeeping, off-campus travel for errands and appointments, and salons. The health and safety of residents and employees remains our highest priority. In the weeks to come, Trillium Woods will keep you informed as we continue to monitor the situation, evaluate information and consider a change in our precautionary measures. Your ongoing support and patience during these challenging times is appreciated. Congrats to all of the dedicated associates who are celebrating five years with us in November!
At Trillium Woods, we're all about clearing up misconceptions about senior living communities. MYTH: "I don’t need to think about a senior living community until I can’t take care of myself." REALITY: More and more people are discovering the vibrant, carefree, convenient lifestyle provided by today’s senior living communities. Moving to a community while you’re still young and healthy enough to enjoy everything it has to offer gives you an opportunity to live life to its fullest now. It also gives you peace of mind for the future, knowing you have a plan in place if your needs change. No one ever tells us they moved in too soon, but they frequently tell us they wish they’d made the move sooner. Stay tuned for more senior living myth-busting in future posts!
This month's Trillium Woods Associate of the Month is Dietary Aide Keyanni W.! She has been a consistent leader on the dietary team and frequently offers to pick up extra shifts if the team is ever short during these challenging times. Keyanni's communication with everyone is exceptional and her bubbly personality frequently brings smiles to residents.
During the winter season, it's more important than ever for aging adults to practice self-care. Trillium Woods Health & Wellness Navigator Cari Brastad offers this piece of advice for protecting mental health over the next few months: soak up some vitamin D. Winter months are dark, and many older adults are deficient in the “sunshine vitamin.” Consider a vitamin D supplement or a light therapy box to add more daylight.
Residents and staff at Trillium Woods sparked some holiday cheer with outdoor caroling under the glow of the lights this week! 🎄
MYTH: "Once I move to a senior living community, it’s all downhill." REALITY: Nothing could be further from the truth. With an abundance of amenities, wellness centered programs, delicious meals and more, a senior living community like Trillium Woods can enhance your life in ways you may never imagine. You’ll make new friends; have opportunities to learn, grow and explore new interests; dive deeper into favorite hobbies; and so much more. In fact, studies have shown that people who move to Life Plan Communities (also known as Continuing Care Retirement Communities or CCRCs) tend to live longer, healthier lives than people who choose to age in place at home.
Safe, accessible and fun — Bingo! At Trillium Woods, residents continue to stay connected with each other every Tuesday with Zoom Bingo.

Winter can sometimes feel isolating — especially for seniors — even without a pandemic. Trillium Woods' Health and Wellness Navigator Cari Brastad shared 7 ways to practice self-care and keep those feelings at bay in a recent column for the Plymouth Sun Sailor. HOMETOWNSOURCE.COM GUEST COLUMN: Self-care is crucial this winter
Here's another misconception we've heard about senior living communities: MYTH: "I’ll have to give up my independence/car/hobbies." REALITY: Senior living communities are designed to empower you to live the way you want to live. You can shake off the chores of home maintenance, yardwork and housekeeping, so you have the time and freedom to do the things that matter most to you. You’re also free to keep your car if you choose, and with all the extra time you’ll have, continue enjoying your hobbies — and maybe pick up a new one or two.
Congrats to Trillium Woods Associate of the Month, Aime G.! Aime is a member of the plant operations team and primarily works at The Birches. He's quick to respond to maintenance requests and always has a smile on his face. Thanks for your dedication, Aime!
Trillium Woods residents Jean and Bill remind us how thankful we are for this community, especially this year: "What a year! It will take us some time to sort it all out but one thing we know for sure: our decision to move to Trillium Woods was one of the best decisions we ever made. It has been our safe harbor through it all. Trillium Woods has brought us into a community life unlike any we have ever known. It is a neighborhood. We feel safe and secure here. Jean and I treasure the generosity of everyone here, the thoughtful conversations, the care and support always at hand, the growing friendships and the ever-present kindness of greeting one another in the hallways."
