About

School of Rock St. Paul provides both in-person and online music lessons for students of all ages. Our programs, camps and workshops for toddlers, kids, teens and adults make learning to play music fun and create great communities of musicians. School of Rock is the leader in performance-based music education. We combine one-on-one drum, bass, keyboard, vocal, and guitar lessons with group practices. Students learn to play music from day one and put on live performances at local venues. Our experienced instructors are local musicians themselves who combine the performance-based School of Rock Method and programs with individual music lessons to get results for your student.

KISS has always been a great show for our students. They not only learn about stage presence but they get to pretend it's another day of Halloween. And, they LOVE the music too! #sorstpaul #kiss #reasontolive #genesimmons #musiceducation #music #musiclessons #musicteacher #musicschool
The traditional approach to music education is to learn the parts and then put them together. Then there are guitar teachers who teach kids how to play songs, but they don't teach the students how and why the songs work. At School of Rock, we provide the instant gratification of learning the song first AND we teach them the theory behind the songs so that they can apply that knowledge to other songs. On top of that, we offer a combination of private lessons and band rehearsal to keep kids engaged in learning and having fun while doing so. #guitar #guitarlessons #sorstpaul

"Living on a lighted stage approaches the unreal' sings Geddy Lee from Rush. Geddy has a very distinctive singing voice, but he has woven that voice into the fabric of the band. Vocalists learn to embrace their core and work hard to expand their talents here. https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul | 651.292.1917 #sorstpaul #singing #voicelessons
While we are School of Rock, our students enjoy all types of popular music. The rich harmonies of many of the Motown artists like Smokey Robinson encourage our students to work hard in developing lead and backing vocals skills. https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul | 651.292.1917 #sorstpaul #SmokeyRobinson #schoolofrock #schoolofrockusa #singing #voicelessons
EVERY SONG HOLDS A MEMORY: People are wired to connect music with our long term memories. Think of your favorite song and you likely remember where you were and what you were doing when you heard it. Think of your first date or your first concert. I'll bet you remember a specific song from each. We promise you, nothing holds a candle to watching your child play their first song on stage. And the moment will be fondly remembered by your child their entire life too. Every School of Rock student can tell you the first song they played on stage. Visit us today to get your child rocking. 651.292.1917/https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul # sorstpaul #kids #kidsactivities #schoolofrock
We often hear that being in a band is a little like being on a sports team...everyone has each others back and they want to do the best for each other. During the course of Performance Program rehearsals over a season, students develop musicianship with each other and create an experience like no other. 651.292.1917/https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul #sorstpaul #musiceducation #music #musiclessons #musicteacher
1. ACTION: The “action” of a keyboard or piano describes how well the keys respond when pushed down. As an acoustic instrument, pianos tend to have more action, and have a weighted feel when playing. A keyboard with weighted keys is a good option for students who want a similar feel to the piano. 2. RANGE: The standard piano has 88 keys, as do many electric keyboards. However, some keyboards have less than 88 keys. You’ll want at least 72 keys in order to play the majority of popular songs. 3. SOUND: Sound options vary depending on if you choose a piano versus a keyboard. The piano is an acoustic instrument, meaning its sound is produced and amplified physically. Keyboards are electronic instruments with a variety of volume options, and often can produce sounds like piano, horns, strings, organs, synthesizers, and more. 651.292.1917/https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul #sorstpaul #piano #pianolessons #pianist #pianoteacher #pianoplayer
Our students develop deep and lasting friendships at School of Rock, and those friendships form a great support system. Life as a pre-teen or teenager can be tough sometimes, but our students love that they can count on each other and they have each others back. 651.292.1917/https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul #sorstpaul #schoolofrock #schoolofrockusa #musicislife #musicmatters #musicforkids

Happy birthday to Lucinda Williams, singer and songwriter who received critical acclaim for her label-defying music, which ranged from folk to blues to country to rock. Many beginner pianists use too much pressure on the keys. This can cause hands to cramp. Rather than hitting the keys, glide your hands softly and smoothly over the keys. A relaxed hand is more flexible and easier to control. Not a student at School of Rock St Paul? Sign up for a FREE trial here https://locations.schoolofrock.com/stpaul. #sorstpaul #pianolessons
