About

Ohr Kodesh is a congregation that enjoys learning and worshipping together. Daily “minyanim” are a staple, and Shabbat and Jewish holidays provide many opportunities for the community to gather together for special programming. Men, women, and all members of the family are participants in the services. We seek every day to fulfill our mission: to pray, study, and perform acts of loving-kindness as a caring community. Call us today for more information!

Introducing...UNMASKED MEMBER MOMENTS Join us on a journey to see what Ohr Kodesh members are all about….unmasked! Meet The Cowan Family! https://share.vidday.com/o-tcb5fs
Introducing...UNMASKED MEMBER MOMENTS Masks are essential, but they make it so much harder to recognize familiar faces and feel the warmth of a smile. We’d like to take you on a journey to see what Ohr Kodesh members are all about….unmasked! From holiday reflections and new year’s wishes to Ohr Kodesh memories and stories about how we’ve passed the time, we different members will be featured each week throughout the fall chaggim. Interested in capturing your own video or writing a short text response to share with others? It’s quick, easy, and fun for any age! Email us to get started. The Laric/Glaser Family We, Pnina, Eli, Zev and Matan, are looking forward to being with family (socially-distanced) to celebrate the holidays together. We are also looking forward to putting up and decorating our Sukkah and spending time in it. So many favorite memories from being physically present at Ohr Kodesh: Participating in the always wonderful ECC Pesach Exodus when our kids were younger. Rabbi Fishman makes an impressive Moses! Ms. Ellie playing during Ta'am Shel Shabbat was the best. We also loved attending the Tot Shabbat dinners and seeing friends there. Simchat Torah in the lobby at Ohr Kodesh is a special experience - there's so much ruach (spirit). And who can forget Gidon's etrog-infused adult beverage? We really enjoy listening to Cantor Labovitz daven during the High Holidays. We are so lucky to have her in our shul and community. Finally, we are a long time MoEd family (7 years), and can't say enough about the wonderful Israeli-style programming that Orna and her team put on for families. Two of our favorites are Chanukkah and Lag Ba'Omer. We were fortunate enough to spend a lot of time this spring hiking in and exploring Rock Creek Park. We probably would not have had the opportunity to get to know so many of the trails in our back yard, had it not been for this prolonged time at home. Pnina loves spray painting sculptures and creating yard art (come check out our front patio and the treasures hanging from the big tree branch). While usually a solo activity, she got to spray paint with the kids this summer - a real highlight.

Proud of Julia Diamond, son of Michael Diamond and Tova Geller, celebrating becoming a bat mitzvah at OKC this morning. She is the first bat mitzvah to celebrate back in our sanctuary (with all necessary precautions) since we closed for COVID, and we hope her celebrations marks only the first of many we will celebrate, uninterrupted, in the next months and years. Yishar Koach, Julia! #mazaltov #COVIDmitzvah #backtoshul
