Obinna Isiguzo, MD, FACC is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease with additional board certifications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He practices with South Texas Cardiovascular Consultants.
Dr. Isiguzo grew up in Nigeria. His early interest in medicine was inspired by an obstetrician/gynecologist he knew and watched on a TV health show. But later, in medical school, he discovered his fascination with the heart and his medical career took a new path.
After medical school and an internship in Nigeria, Dr. Isiguzo moved to the United States and continued his medical internship and residency at St. Joseph Hospital at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. While at St. Joseph’s, Dr. Isiguzo had the privilege of being voted best intern by his fellow peers. He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease (invasive) at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio and served as chief fellow in his third year. After his fellowship, Dr. Isiguzo practiced for eight years in the Cleveland Clinic Health System East Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. While at Cleveland Hospital, Dr. Isiguzo was twice honored with the Best Teaching Attending award.
In an effort to be closer to family and in pursuit of warmer weather, Dr. Isiguzo considered joining practices in Dallas and Austin, until he got a call from South Texas Cardiovascular Consultants. "I was a Spurs fan, and I knew a little bit about San Antonio. So, I stopped there on my way to Austin and I quickly fell in love with the city and the practice," Dr. Isiguzo says. "It's a joy to practice here."
Dr. Isiguzo sees patients in San Antonio, Kerrville and Boerne, as well as at Methodist Hospital | Texsan.
