The ability to reach overhead is an important pattern we struggle with as modern movers. Hours fixed in front of a screen or driving put us out of balance. Training this pattern will give you information about your balance, your shoulder mobility, and your ability to coordinate the upper body with the lower body through the trunk. If balance is an issue, keep the trailing leg on the floor. If range of motion is an issue, reach for the knee or shin rather than the toes. Essential Oils are aromatic compounds made up of various chemical constituents that give each a unique aroma and beneficial properties. I have found so much goodness from working with essential oils it's time I start sharing that knowledge with you. Peppermint Essential Oil -- Is refreshing, minty, and blends well with other oils. It is steam distilled and can contain between 20-60% menthol depending on growing conditions and distillation method. It can help with everything from promoting feelings of clear breathing to enhancing a soothing massage on sore muscles. Both characteristics I find beneficial to a quality training session. To use Peppermint essential oil for your training sessions, drip 1-2 drops in the palm of your hand and rub together before breathing deeply into cupped hands. You could also diffuse 2-3 drops during your session. After a session mix 1-2 drops in your hand along with shea butter or fractionated coconut oil and massage into sore muscles.
