A few safe driving tips for the weather:
• Do not accelerate or brake on hills, curves & bridges. Allow the vehicle to coast. Avoid any sudden movements like slamming on brakes or jerks of steering wheels. Be sure to stay far behind salt trucks & snow plows.
• Remember 4WD does not prevent you from sliding…only helps when accelerating from a complete stop.
• Tire tread uses snow-on-snow adhesion to help grip during snow driving (think like making a snowman). But this doesn’t mean you will stop. Remember the brake systems come into play.
• Wiper blades & their motors can take a toll during these cold temps. Important to make sure windshields are uncovered before using blades as that can cause the blades to get torn. Also allowing wipers to freeze to windshield & then trying to use them can burn up the motor. Important if using automatic starts to turn OFF wiper blades so that they do not turn on & burn up motor when starting up.
