Paint the Town Pink is an October-long campaign by Margaret Mary Health and local organizations to raise awareness for breast cancer:
With new and improved technology, your mammogram screening can be completed in about 10 to 15 minutes. To learn more about what to expect during your mammogram appointment, listen in as Louise Bishoff, RT describes the process.
All women should get a baseline mammogram at 40 unless recommended by a physician. After age 40, mammograms should be repeated annually. Schedule your mammogram today by visiting us online at mmhealth.org/mammo.
Earlier this summer, we welcomed Dr. Kelley Fitzpatrick to our medical staff. She offers a full range of women's health services for every age in both Batesville and Brookville. To schedule your appointment, call 812.933.5544.
Our communities continue to amaze us with their support of Paint the Town Pink! In Milan, the Fire Department honored the wife of one of their own, Sheryl Ison - a breast cancer survivor.
There's no doubt both pregnancy and motherhood can be a challenge. From sleep deprivation and feeding concerns to not having time for personal relationships, many mothers find themselves exhausted and overwhelmed.
Are you looking for a safe place to share your thoughts, feelings and concerns about being a mom? Join MMH for our Managing Motherhood support group.
Led by a licensed social worker, this informal group is designed to provide both peer support and professional advice on pregnancy and motherhood. We'll discuss everything from breastfeeding and child development to managing your emotions and taking time for yourself.
The Managing Motherhood support group meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month via Microsoft Teams. For more information, call 812.933.5406.

It's estimated nearly six million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's dementia in the US.
If you're experiencing any of the below symptoms, be sure to talk to your doctor.
By the end of 2020, it's estimated more than 57,000 people in the US will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, because the pancreas is deep inside the body, early tumors can’t be seen or felt by your doctor during routine physical exams. That's why it's important to know the symptoms of this dangerous disease and to contact your doctor if you experience any of them.

Katie Davis, DNP, Family Medicine (Physician Partners of Milan):
While 2020 has been less than ideal in many ways, I remain forever grateful for my family and my health. The pandemic has allowed me to slow down and truly be present with my loved ones, making incredible memories. I am thankful for strengthened relationships both professionally and personally, and I am exceptionally thankful for all of the amazing medical professionals who I am privileged to work with both directly and indirectly as we continue to promote quality health care for our communities.
MMH CEO, Tim Putnam provides an update to the community on the current impact of COVID-19 in our region and how people can stay safe and help slow the spread.

Though 2020 has been a year of change and uncertainty, it has also been a year to reflect on the people and things that are most important in our lives. I am proud of the amazing medical group that has pulled together to serve our community, and I appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received this year, as well. I am grateful for the health of my family and a warm home to enjoy together. We have had extra time to unplug and enjoy the little things, like banana bread and sidewalk chalk. And at the same time, we are so lucky for the technology that keeps us connected to family, informed about the pandemic and stocked up on supplies. Last, but not least, I am thankful for toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Happy Thanksgiving 2020! 🦃🍁🍽

This year, I find it easier than ever to count my blessings. I am always grateful for my husband and family for their never-ending support. I am thankful for the chance to tuck my kids in every night and be a mother and a physician. I am extremely appreciative for the amazing work family that I am blessed to have. We have incredible MAs, nurses and office staff who make coming to work enjoyable every day. Last, but not least, I am grateful and humbled by those who entrust me with their care. My patients are and always will be a driving force in my motivation to be my best every day. Happy Thanksgiving to all! God bless and stay safe!

2020 has been a whirlwind of a year, but now more than ever it’s reminded me of how grateful I am for my family. My wife and kids always support me through all our ups and downs. They love and value the current version of myself and have a patient faith in the person I want to become.
2020 has pushed our community and our country to its' limits, but despite all of the challenges we've faced, one thing we've come to realize is how incredibly blessed we are. This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the generous and kind communities we serve, for those who pray for us and support us. Happy Thanksgiving!

The recommendation for at least one hour of physical activity each day can help your overall health in multiple ways. Physical activity helps build strong bones and muscles and can be a great way to spend more time together as a family. It can also help with stress, as well as improve sleep quality, concentration in school, mood and energy levels. We suggest doing a variety of different activities to help prevent boredom and use different muscles. It can be challenging to get in at least one hour of physical activity every day, especially in cooler months, which is why we suggest creating a 'move jar.'
Fill a jar with slips of paper with words, phrases or drawings that call for movement. A few ideas include crab walking, 10 jumping jacks, act like a monkey, dance silly, go find a red toy, walk in place for 30 seconds, etc. Have someone pick from the jar and get your family moving!

While vaccines are an effective way to keep you and your loved ones safe from dangerous diseases, they may sometimes bring about mild side effects. This is why the CDC has created V-safe, a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to provide personalized health check-ins after you receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Through v-safe, you can quickly tell CDC if you have any side effects after getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Depending on your answers, someone from CDC may call to check on you and get more information. Your participation in CDC’s v–safe makes a difference — it helps keep COVID-19 vaccines safe.

Over time, your skin loses its volume. Juvederm® helps bring it back.
Did you know Dr. Brian Albers offers Juvederm® lip fillers in his Batesville office? Also known as lip injections, these fillers are a popular treatment for many lip concerns. Not only do they increase fullness in thin lips, they can create a more defined smile and give your mouth a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.
Juvederm® lip fillers work by using an ingredient called Hyaluronic Acid. This substance can be found naturally in the body and delivers volume to the skin. These fillers add volume to your lips without surgery while also temporarily restoring the volume loss beneath the surface.
To learn more or to schedule a free consultation, call Dr. Albers’ office at 812.933.1600.

One question our doctors have received surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine is if it will alter your DNA. The short answer is no. The COVID-19 mRNA vaccine does NOT change or interact with your DNA in any way. Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines teach your cells how to make a protein that will trigger an immune response. The mRNA from the COVID-19 vaccine NEVER enters the nucleus of the cell, which is where your DNA is kept. Instead, the vaccine works with your body's natural defenses to safely develop immunity to the disease.
