Boys & Girls Club 2018 Newsletter
Joseph Madrigrano Jr. and the Madrigrano family have been involved with the Club since the beginning. The impact that the Madrigrano family has had on Club kids over the years is immeasurable, yet Joe prefers to work as the man behind the scenes, never looking for recognition and always providing vision and creative ways to benefit the Club.
That creative vision is most recently evidenced through Joe's establishment, together with Bob Lee Jr., of the Shirley Madrigrano and Natalie Lee Performing and Visual Fine Arts Foundation and the Boys & Girls Club Golf Foundation. Joe's fundraising efforts have grown both the Arts and Golf Foundations significantly.
Funds from the Golf Foundation earnings fully fund the BGC Sports Golf Program, including "Golf with a Cop", lessons at the Municipal Golf Course, and instruction from golf professionals at the Kenosha Country Club.
The Arts fund has grown substantially as well, allowing the Club to add programs like Dance Instruction, Digital Arts, and Music Classes in partnership with Carthage College.
Joe's lifelong passion for helping serve Kenosha's youth was again evident with his purchase of a 21-passenger bus for the Club, helping transport more kids from school to the Club on "Gus the Bus," and even from the Club to their homes
.
Joe hopes that his vision and model of the Golf and Arts Foundations can be replicated to support other Club activities.

Madrigrano, Lee Honor Mothers With New Arts Foundation for Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha

Shirley Madrigrano and Natalie “Tootie” Lee loved seeing children from all walks of life participating in the arts.
The two recently deceased matriarchs from Kenosha’s iconic Madrigrano and Lee families will be memorialized by two of their sons – Joseph Madrigrano, Jr. and Bob Lee, Jr. – through the creation of The Shirley Madrigrano and Natalie Lee Performing and Visual Fine Arts Foundation at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha.
“Both of our mothers cherished their children and all children,” Joe Madrigrano, Jr. said. “Participating in the arts programs offered at our Boys & Girls Club allows children to participate in things they might not otherwise have access to. The club has wonderful role models overseeing the programs, and the national templates for arts programs through Boys & Girls Club of America are proven effective.”
Bob Lee, Jr. said he and his two brothers grew up around sports – specifically, baseball. “It was the centerpiece of our extracurricular activities” he said. “But Mom always stressed that there is much more to life than sports. We are privileged to be partnering with the Madrigrano family in a way that celebrates the love both of our mothers held for children and the arts.”
Jake McGhee, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha, said the arts programs, which are offered at the Club’s 52nd Street location, give Kenosha youth a safe, positive place to play and learn. “Through this foundation,” McGhee said, “Joe and Bob want to see that those programs not only continue, but expand along with the role of the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha.”
In 2015, 330 club members participated in Arts Programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha. “We are hopeful that this foundation will enable more Kenosha children to participate in music, plays, painting, crafts and all of the other art classes and activities offered at the Boys & Girls Club”, McGhee stated.
Madrigrano and Lee encouraged others to support The Shirley Madrigrano and Natalie Lee Performing and Visual Fine Arts Foundation by sending donations to:
