How is paternity established in Wisconsin? The three ways in which paternity may be established are through voluntary paternity acknowledgement, a court ruling, or an acknowledgement of marital child form. A voluntary paternity acknowledgement form may be signed following the birth of the child, if the parents are at least 18 years old and both agree that the man is the father. A court ruling may occur if the man asserts he is not the father. Genetic tests may be requested by the man during this hearing. A marital child form can be signed if the parents marry after the birth of the child. This form will establish paternity.

COVID-19 has also cemented itself as the first disease to ever become an issue during custody proceedings. Issues pertaining to COVID-19 that may arise in family court include disagreements about social distancing and mask wearing practices.
