Dr. Bowers completed medical school at the to University of Wisconsin at Madison where he also earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Bowers completed his residency and fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. James Bowers specializes in total joint replacements of the knee, hip, and shoulder. He has extensive expertise in custom total knee replacements and his anterior approach to hip replacements. He also performs knee arthroscopy, MAKO robotic-assisted surgery, ACL reconstructions, and shoulder replacement surgery.
Dr. Bowers loves athletics, especially soccer, swimming and triathlons. He has completed the Wisconsin Ironman in 2008 and 2012. He also enjoys the guitar and has an interest in woodworking.
