Part four of the importance of vehicle maintenance is crucial. Your transmission is the other half of the lifeline of your vehicles ability to do its job. A lot of today’s vehicles are recommended to be changed at 80-100k miles on automatic transmissions. Understand that is in perfect conditions of weather and driving related. It does not necessarily take into consideration the extreme heat here or oversized tires, performance upgrades etc. this particular photo shows brand new transmission fluid and what we removed from a customers Jeep with 110k miles and had already been changed once 60k miles ago. There is so much clutch material in the discolored fluid that we had to share this for our customers to truly see what extreme conditions can do to break down fluids. It truly is imperative to stay on top of your maintenance as this transmission repair can and probably will run a couple to a few thousand dollars in the future. How important is preventative maintenance? Well here is our customers 2018 Ram 3500 with 491,000 miles!!! Yeah almost half a million miles and it looks like 49k. He has religiously kept the oil changed, trans fluid serviced, shocks replaced when needed, ball joints replaced and aligned etc etc... you see even on long haul vehicles parts wear out, but maintaining your vehicle is key for longevity. If you ever wondered how serious we are about cars and how passionate Keith is, this is my (Dorian) 67 Nova wagon. We have spent 8 mos between my home garage and the back shop (our mini shop for our own projects) here getting it ready for my wedding in two weeks as a tribute to my dad who passed from cancer in 2015. We have owned this car 34 years and getting it running again after 20 years was imperative to me in his memory. Keith and Russ and the guys have been a huge help and we’re here today again working on it to try and make it as my day approaches. Just one more reason Interstate Auto is amazing. Yeah, as an employee I may be biased a bit, but that doesn’t change the amazing hearts that work here.
