Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home March 6, 2019 at 7:59 AM · ~IN LOVING MEMORY~ Today we remember the life of our father and grandfather, Charles Russell Fisher, who was born on this day in 1916. Charles R. grew up in Ringoes, NJ where he was raised by his mother and grandparents after the untimely death of his father. He graduated from the Renouard Mortuary Institute in New York City in 1935, joining his grandfather, Charles Holcombe, in the family funeral business. He went on to serve the Flemington community for the next 65 years. In 1937 he married, as he put it, "the best thing that ever happened to him", Josephine "Punchy" Oaks, and the two became the parents of Charlie in 1938 and Nancy in 1942. They were married for 63 years. Mr. Fisher was a well-known member of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and Flemington Lions Club for 60 years. Additionally, he was Flemington National Bank Chairman of the Board from 1965-1991. May he continue to rest in peace.
