This young lady had a significant amount of asymmetry. The left breast was small and the nipple more lateral. Although we can move the nipples side to side a bit, if they are too far from the axis of the breast (the center line of the breast) it will result in a very unaesthetic result.
I moved her left nipple medially enough to improve the asymmetry but not too much to cause a poor result. She is loving her new look!

This lovely patient underwent a breast augmentation, by another plastic surgeon, several years ago. She is a smoker and developed wound healing problems. As a result she developed capsular contracture of the right breast. In addition she came to me with significant glandular ptosis. This is when the natural breast tissue hangs below the implants. I removed the right implant and implant capsule. I placed a new implant on the right then performed a full breast lift bilaterally.
Breast lift surgery restores the breasts to a younger and “perkier” appearance by removing excess skin, lifting the nipple, and tightening the surrounding tissue. To further enhance the overall appearance of the breasts, this procedure can be performed in combination with breast implants.

A lot of study has gone into breast implants to determine rates of capsular contracture. What we know is that any implant placed above the pectoralis muscle has a higher rate of capsular contracture. We also know that when placed above the muscle, textured implants are less likely to cause capsular contracture than smooth implants.
Overall, it doesn't matter who the manufacturer is, saline or silicone, smooth or textured, round or contoured, etc. If you've developed capsular contracture several times in the past, you're likely to get it again.
