Yay! We are back to seeing "regular" patients. Please be patient as we go through our list to get you all scheduled. In the meantime keep doing your Dental Monitoring scans, so we can continue to monitor your progress and schedule you correctly (and to avoid unnecessary visits, since new protocols prohibit us from doing certain things on certain days). Looking forward to seeing all your smiling faces soon.

Most problems involving the alignment of a child's teeth and jaws are detectable by first or second grade. For this reason, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children have a check-up with an orthodontic specialist no later than age 7. | orthodontist-sayville.com
Ceramic braces blend in with the natural color of your teeth. While being far less visible, they still function in the same way as metal braces to deliver outstanding results of care. | orthodontist-sayville.com
Braces are far from being a new idea. Archaeologists have discovered ancient Egyptian mummies with crude metal bands wrapped around their teeth. | orthodontist-sayville.com
While orthodontics has come a long way since the days of large metal bands wrapped around each tooth, the first official use of the term "braces" in the field of dentistry was in the early 1900s. | orthodontist-sayville.com
What's the most common problem associated with the need for orthodontic treatment? It's a crowded smile. | orthodontist-sayville.com

While genetics plays a role in many malocclusions, environmental factors such as harmful oral habits, missing teeth, a jaw injury, or disease, can also cause occlusal changes and a "bad bite." | orthodontist-sayville.com

Here's another reason to straighten your smile: When teeth don't line up or meet as they should, they often exhibit uneven, excessive, and unhealthy areas of wear. | orthodontist-sayville.com
In addition to looking good and being easier to keep clean, straight teeth that meet correctly and are not crowded or protruding are better protected from trauma by the surrounding soft tissues. | orthodontist-sayville.com
A healthy occlusion not only supports comfortable jaw movement, but it also helps to protect the health of the teeth, the supporting periodontal tissues, and optimal temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function. | orthodontist-sayville.com
