We are excited to announce that Dr. Suchitra “Sue” Sharma DDS is joining our practice as a skilled and caring dentist. Dr. Sharma received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The University of Iowa, College of Dentistry and also holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Manipal University in India. She has been a passionate practitioner of the dental profession with over a decade of international experience as a clinician in private dental practice providing quality care. Dr. Sharma is honored to also serve as an adjunct faculty member in the department of Family Dentistry at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Sharma is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and the Academy of Osseointegration (AO). Believing that we should never stop learning, she seeks out opportunities to expand her knowledge through continuing education and building upon her expertise. Dr. Sharma enjoys volunteering her time at the Iowa Mission of Mercy (IMOM) and other community dental health events. Dr. Sharma was born in Florida and grew up in India where her parents had moved to when she was young. On returning back to the US, she decided to settle in the Midwest and now calls Iowa City home where she lives along with her husband and their two school-going kids aged 17 and 7 years. When not at work or spending time with her family, Dr. Sharma enjoys cooking, nature walks, practicing yoga and traveling. Dr. Sharma understands that her patients are not all the same. She doesn’t use a one-size-fits-all approach when addressing your oral health. She believes in a personalized, comprehensive approach and welcomes patients of all ages.

Our team hopes that everyone is staying safe and healthy. We miss our patients and are excited to be back!
We will start the transition with Thursday and Friday appointments, but we will be available for scheduling Monday-Friday through the phone. Please be patient as the appointment times may be limited at the beginning but we will be back to regular hours soon.
We are implementing extra precautions to keep our staff and patients safe:
- Please call us from your car when you arrive to check-in.
- Remain 6’ from each other and stay behind the plexiglass while our front office staff is helping you.
- Everyone will have temperature check upon entering the office and be asked questionnaires. And yes, we check our staff’s temperature too!
- Sanitize or wash your hands when arriving and leaving the office.
- Please no companions, and we ask that your driver remains in the car.

In regard to recent updates and recommendations surrounding COVID-19, we feel it is our responsibility at Dental House of Washington as health care providers to be there for those who are in need. We also feel responsible to protect our staff, their families, our patients and certainly our community.
We had to make a hard decision to cancel all elective procedures for the next three weeks to help "flattening the curve", however, we will be
OPEN for EMERGENCY CLINIC on Thursday-Friday from 9 am -3 pm
during this time. We are available through the phone Monday-Friday from 9 am - 3 pm at 319-653-4451 for scheduling.
We will continue to screen patients for symptoms of COVID-19 as they arrive and practice the same high standard of universal precautions to sterilize and disinfect all equipment, instruments and operatories. We ask patients to inform us immediately if they have fever, cough, difficulty breathing, etc prior to the appointment. We will also have patients sanitize their hand and have temperature checked as they enter the office as further precautions. We are determined to do everything we can to serve and protect our patients and community.

Dental House patients. In the coming weeks we have some requests of you. In an effort to keep our Dental House family and patients healthy we ask that you reschedule your appointments if:
* You have traveled outside of the US in the past 30 days.
* You have a cough or flu like symptoms
* You have a temperature of 100 degrees or more.
We take our disinfecting protocol seriously to ensure a safe and clean environment for our patients and staff. For the next several weeks we will be following nation wide protocol when you enter our office:
* We will be checking your temperature upon arrival
* We will provide you a mask that we ask you to wear
while you are here.
* Only bring guests with you that are necessary for
transportation. Please do not bring all of your children
with you unless they have an appointment. If you are
not able to find childcare for additional visitors we ask
that you reschedule your appointment.
