Before 2000, the Olympics included a compulsory routine qualification round. It’s quite fascinating to watch different countries put their own style on the same routines...plus there were some weird skills!

Although not the most exciting to watch, compulsories were an important part of gymnastics development. It seemed the judges would find the most tricky A, B, & C elements and construct a very challenging routine.
