As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, Cheyenne Brown, Inventory Control Clerk & Diversity and Inclusion Council Member, recognizes his grandma as his inspiration. “She was the first Black woman in Bakersfield, CA, to become a parole officer in 1985 and selflessly helped raise me and my many cousins.”

The obstacles and challenges Black people have overcome or continue to tackle, including slavery, Jim Crow segregation and systemic racism. The critical importance of the many contributions that Black people have made to this country and to the world, and the need to continue to work for equity and inclusion for all people. In continuation of our Black History Month spotlight series, we’re proud to introduce Randy Kimbrough, Grocery Warehouse Operations Manager. Randy is a leader who inspires those around him to be their best. He accredits his father for his strong foundation of integrity. “As a young boy, I watched him work several jobs to put my siblings and I through private grammar and high school. He would then come home cut the grass, shovel the snow or fix things around the house. And he still made time to do family things with us and attend my basketball games as a youth.” Today Randy instills these values in his own children and champions the words of Maya Angelou,
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
