Teaching Kids Life Skills: 7 Essential Life Skills to Help Your Child Succeed:
Life skills go hand in hand with development, and can help your child succeed later in life. Discover the most important life skills your child should know and ways to incorporate them into your daily routine.
In her groundbreaking book, "Mind in the Making," Ellen Galinsky describes seven skills necessary for success in all aspects of life, including school, relationships, and work. Children can learn these skills beginning in early childhood.
What Are Life Skills?
Teachers sometimes describe these skills as “learning to learn” skills, which can be developed through intentional daily activities.
Below, we explore the seven essential life skills and offer some simple ways to nurture them.

Simple classroom adjustments make it easier for a teacher to work with the strengths and weaknesses of a child with ADHD.
It may be helpful for teachers to:
Pair written instructions with oral instructions.
Give clear, concise instructions.
Ask a volunteer in the class to repeat the directions.
Use a timer to help with transitions and organizations.
Speak when the child is paying attention.
Set up clear rules of behavior and consequences for breaking these rules.
Set up a program that rewards appropriate behavior.
Seat the child near a good role model or near the teacher and away from distractions.
Establish a nonverbal cue to get the child’s attention.
Establish a routine so the child knows what to expect (this may be a daily agenda or checklist that can be posted visibly in the classroom).
Set up times to check in with the child and with the child's parents because kids with ADHD may be reluctant to ask for help.

The emotional, social and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult they will become. That is why understanding the need to invest in very young children is so important, so as to maximize their future well-being.
Neurological research shows that the early years play a key role in children’s brain development.
Babies begin to learn about the world around them from a very early age – including during the prenatal, perinatal (immediately before and after birth) and postnatal period.
Children’s early experiences – the bonds they form with their parents and their first learning experiences – deeply affect their future physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
Optimizing the early years of children’s lives is the best investment we can make as a society in ensuring their future success.

Our waddlers class loves their story time with Ms. Lexus! 📚
Singing helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words. Dancing to music helps children build motor skills while allowing them to practice self-expression. For children and adults, music helps strengthen memory skills.

Letter Recognition is the ability to recognize and name all of the lowercase and capital letters. Children who know the letters can also distinguish between them by this artwork not only they practice their fine motor skills but also help them recognize particular letters.
Craft activities might get a little messy, but don't worry, arts and craft are brilliant for developing little minds and bodies. So, what's a few paint stains compared to burgeoning creativity!
Craft activities foster communication, listening, attention, and imagination. These activities can enhance mental health and wellbeing as well as fostering a whole range of developmental skills in pre-schoolers, such as:
Fine motor skills
Enhancing children's hand eye co-ordination and building levels of manual dexterity.
Identification of shapes, colour and texture
Working with materials teaches them about colours, shapes and textures. How things work and how they fit together.
Creativity
Craft encourages children to play and experiment in a fun and relaxed environment.

A Perfect Start is a child care center and preschool which aims to develop children in the right way from a tender age. We believe in providing all round training to our students and we’ve discovered that if done correctly, education has the ability to develop children into great scholars. We have been saddled with the responsibility of teaching children in such a way that will not only develop their minds but their bodies as well and through conscientious work and developmental training, we do all we can to carry out this responsibility with effectiveness.

We understand the fact that classical and formal education is also an important aspect of students’ learning, especially due to the fact that it is the surest and fastest way to teach students how to deal with the complexities of today’s society. We know that along with our character-building curriculum, this aspect helps in shaping your child to become useful and effective members of society.
Parents may like to instil good manners in their child as early as they can start. Good manners may help you to shape your child into a pleasant and loving person and boost his social IQ. You may like to commonly use phrases like ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ while dealing with your child. Be sure to conduct yourself rightfully as kids learn more by observing an adult’s actions. Constant and consistent modelling of good manners may assist your child in adopting them so that they become an integral part of his life.

Our Builders Class made Italian Flag!!
Did you know? The colors of the Italian flag derive from the French one, from which the Italian is inspired. The blue color was replaced by the green of Milan's Civic Guard. ... One is that green symbolizes hope, while white represents faith and red signifies charity.

Good Evening All,
I understand that our decision to open, close or delay school opening during inclement weather often disrupts family schedules and our children are better served – academically, emotionally and socially – by being in school or daycare. However, APSLC will follow our inclement weather policy and remain closed on Wednesday 2/17/2021 as Huntsville City Schools has also made the decision to close. As always, I will keep you all updated as I hear more. Please , please be safe if you must travel during this time.

9 Things To Say To Your Anxious Child
Dr. Travis Bradberry
Anxiety can be hard for anyone to understand, especially young children. Check out these 9 ways to help your child process their anxiety.
1. I’m here with you. You’re safe.
2. Do you want to do some dancing or running to get rid of the worried energy?
3. Tell me about it.
4. What would you like to say to your worry? What might your worry say back? Then what?
5. Let’s draw it.
6. What does it feel like in your body? Where is the worry? How big is it?
7. Match your breaths to mine.
8. Let’s think up some endings for what could happen (anxious ones, goofy ones, AND realistic ones).
9. What’s something you could do to help you feel better?

NATIONAL WORKING MOMS DAY
Every mom is a working mom. On March 12th, National Working Moms Day celebrates the breadwinners and the breadmakers, the educators and the role models, those resilient, inspirational fixtures in our children’s lives.
Ever since the invention of motherhood, mothers have been innovating, creating, and developing. They strategize and organize, never stopping until the work is done. And through each evolution, we know mothers keep pace with the changing world. Working moms invest in our communities because their small businesses thrive there. We can never celebrate them enough, no matter how many cookies they make or how much bread they bring home.
That’s why National Working Moms Day celebrates every mom. Whether you recognize a marvelous working mother in your life or you reflect on your accomplishments as a working mom, join in the celebration!
Working Moms Day is an opportunity to appreciate a working mom you know. Tag someone you know!
We are working on our fine motor skills. It helps children perform crucial tasks like reaching, grasping, and moving objects. We all want to have the ability to control and manipulate things and objects in our environment. Without fine motor skills, we can't do the simple things like button or zip a jacket, turning pages in a book, or sign our names on important documents. Fine motor skills help kids learn and develop handwriting and drawing skills. An extremely important part of school work involves these two tasks. Think of the tracing letter sheets used in pre-schools and kindergarten; they help hone in on those small muscles!
"What I want young women and girls to know is: You are powerful and your voice matters. You're going to walk into many rooms in your life and career where you may be the only one who looks like you or who has had the experiences you've had. But you remember that when you are in those rooms, you are not alone. We are all in that room with you applauding you on. Cheering your voice. And just so proud of you. So you use that voice and be strong." — Vice President Kamala Harris
Did you know? 👑
Honeybee Queens Quack 😱
Only one queen can reign in the beehive. If more than one queen lives in the hive, a process called piping occurs. Virgin queen bees and mated queen bees use piping as a heads up to the colony that they’re ready to fight to their death for the title of reigning queen. These sounds typically come in the form of quacking when they’re in their comb cells or a toot when they’re outside. They also use piping as a way to rally worker bees behind their fight for the queen bee. It’s typically a battle of stinging until only one queen remains.
